The Former First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, was brutally labelled “blind” after she claimed to be “deceived, misled and betrayed,” after it was found that her ex-husband, Peter Murrell, embezzled over £400,00 from the Scottish National Party funds. On Thursday (May 28), the politician told an audience in Ireland at her first public appearance since Murrell pleaded guilty that she was coming to terms with being married to someone she “did not know at all”, and acknowledged people would have questions.
Despite this, a TalkTV panel of guests was not convinced, savagely labelling Sturgeon the “plank of the week.” Political commentator, Chloe Dobbs, shared: “He bought multiple coffee machines, that’s worth thousands of pounds.” To which host Kevin O’Sullivan chuckled: “What’s with the coffee obsession, always buying coffee machines?” As they laughed, Chloe continued: “He also bought two very fancy Dyson hair dyers, even though he doesn’t have any hair.”

Justifying her plank of the week vote, the commentator added: “She is insistent that she did not see.” It was then that an edited photo of the former Scottish leader popped up, with her holding a white cane, wearing dark shades and being assisted by a guide dog.
“There she is, the blind woman, unable to see any of her surroundings, unable to see the coffee machines, the motorhome, the Jag and all of these things.
“She’s clearly just so busy with her job as first minister that she couldn’t see anything around the house.

“And she’s trying to play the victim card,” Chloe continued as she mocked: “‘Oh, this is such a distressing time for me, I’d really appreciate it if you’d leave me alone and not ask me any questions about how I’d possibly couldn’t have seen any of these luxurious items around the house.'”
Murrell has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty at the high court in Edinburgh on Monday to embezzling £400,310.65 from the SNP between 2010 and 2022, spending the cash on items including a motorhome, cars, expensive watches and a telescope.
In 2023, Sturgeon was also arrested and questioned by police as part of the inquiry, and she said she had “fully cooperated” with Police Scotland. She has consistently denied any knowledge of Murrell’s crimes and was not charged after a police investigation.
