We don’t often find ourselves in a position where we have to decide to help an animal have a better chance at life. However, when we do, it should be to help. It doesn’t always have to be much, but it’s important to try.
This small decision can positively impact their life. It can give them the will to fight and maybe even the opportunity to live a normal life.
In this story, we will witness one such example where a rescuer received a call about a malnourished dog near a highway and went to help.
A Hungry Dog Near a Highway
After receiving the call, the rescuers found the dog and were shocked by his condition.
He was so malnourished that his bones were visible, and his fur was almost gone. The poor puppy was so weak that he couldn’t even move. It was heartbreaking.
There was a small shelter where he stayed, which protected him from both heat and cold for as long as he was there.
Regardless, the rescuers were determined to give him a new chance. One of them gently picked up the dog and placed him in a kennel.
She was so moved by his condition that she cried, realizing how much he had endured on his own.
The rescuers took him to the nearest clinic to see if veterinarians could help. They were completely surprised by his appearance.
They didn’t waste any time. Veterinarians conducted a full examination and discovered he was infected with scabies and parasites. He was severely malnourished and dehydrated, but they could fix that.
The dog, now named Lancris, was put on a strict diet to help him regain weight. He had to eat many small meals throughout the day.
This would continue until his weight was more stable, after which he could transition to larger meals.
Lancris Begins to Recover
After the veterinarians confirmed that the dog would recover, they discharged Lancris from the clinic, and he went into the care of his amazing rescuer.
She took him to her home and watched carefully as he slowly but steadily recovered.
His new caregiver also treated his skin problems so that his fur could grow back normally.
Days passed, and his rescuer did everything to help him become strong enough to walk again. She even encouraged him to try moving on his own, although it was still a bit early.
After ten days, he was now able not only to move but also to run, and he took every opportunity to do so.
Although he is still on the road to recovery, he is making amazing progress, and his rescuer will be there for him every step of the way to ensure it happens.
While we don’t know what will happen next in the story, there is no doubt that Lancris is enjoying his new life and taking every opportunity to wander around and explore new environments
