32 police officers suddenly deployed to confront a tiny group of shoppers?! 🛑😱 What started as a simple dispute over a political hat exploded into absolute chaos in a matter of minutes!
A massive police deployment and subsequent violent altercation outside an Essex supermarket has sparked fresh accusations of “two-tier policing” and the political weaponization of law enforcement against right-leaning activists in the United Kingdom.
The incident, which was heavily scrutinized on the political commentary podcast Point Blank, involved the deployment of 32 Essex Police officers to confront a small group of individuals following a dispute over political attire.

The Supermarket Confrontation
According to reports and video footage analyzed on the broadcast, the incident began outside an Asda supermarket in Essex. The individuals involved were reportedly connected to local protests against the housing of migrants at the Weatherfield camp and the Bell Hotel in Epping, and had recently attended a rally organized by right-wing figure Tommy Robinson in London.
The confrontation was allegedly triggered when Asda security personnel objected to a member of the group filming on the premises while wearing a hat bearing the slogan “Unite the Kingdom.” Following the dispute, security contacted the police.
In a response that critics are calling wildly disproportionate, 32 police officers were deployed to the scene.
Arrests and Accusations of Assault
Footage of the ensuing encounter shows chaotic and physical scuffles between the police and the activists. The commentators on Point Blank alleged that the police “physically assaulted the group.”
During the altercation, four individuals were arrested. According to the broadcast, this included a young woman with autism and her sister, who was reportedly thrown to the ground twice by responding officers during the chaotic scene.
The “Two-Tier Policing” Debate Escalates
The sheer scale of the police response has ignited severe criticism regarding law enforcement priorities and alleged political bias.
The hosts of Point Blank utilized the incident to highlight what they argue is a glaring double standard in British policing. They contrasted the massive deployment of 32 officers for a dispute over a political hat with the frequent failure of police to respond to everyday crimes, such as bicycle theft.
Furthermore, the commentators explicitly accused senior police leadership of operating a “two-tier policing system,” arguing that the judicial and policing systems are being purposely weaponized against right-leaning citizens. They drew a direct comparison to recent massive pro-Palestine marches in London, alleging that left-leaning demonstrations are permitted to “run rampant” with minimal interference, while right-wing groups face aggressive, disproportionate crowd control and mass arrests for minor infractions.
Essex Police have not yet issued a formal statement regarding the tactical reasoning behind the deployment size or the specific conduct of the officers during the arrests.
