A TalkTV star has confessed he is fleeing the United Kingdom in the wake of 18-year-old Henry Nowak’s murder, believing the country to be “unsafe”. Nowak, a student, wasn’t believed by police when he told them he had been stabbed by a Sikh man, who had accused Nowak of racism and assault.
Though his killer Vickrum Digwa has now been jailed for life after the stabbing, caller Michael told TalkTV host Mark Dolan that he intends to leave Britain as it’s “absolutely frightening”. Calling into the show from Birmingham, he said: “A lot of [these cases] go unreported, and I feel hugely unsafe to the extent that I am going. I am going. I can’t take it here any more.
“Even my own neighbours, I’ve been told, have said things about me, and it’s absolutely frightening.”
An incredulous Dolan asked: “That is shocking, that you want to leave the country now, Michael? Because of the atmosphere and how unsafe you feel?”
Michael responded: “Definitely, 100%. Definitely Birmingham, definitely the country.”

Dolan said: “I’ve had so many callers to the show and messages as well – people saying they feel like a second-class citizen in their own country. But for you it’s worse than that, you feel unsafe in your own country?”
The caller clarified: “Hugely, yeah. I’ll just repeat myself – it’s this lack of response from the government, lack of response from my own MP Jess Phillips.
“It just enables this sort of behaviour and this sort of thing, whereby we’re in the wrong and we can’t be in the right.”
