The town centre just descended into absolute MAYHEM! 🛡️👊 Local residents are clashing with riot police after a horrific gang rape—but the REAL outrage is over what the police are REFUSING to show the public!
On Wednesday night, the town centre of Epsom descended into chaos as protests erupted into violent clashes between local residents and riot police. The unrest was triggered by widespread anger over the handling of a reported gang rape of a young woman that occurred in the early hours of the previous Saturday.

The Alleged Attack and Police Silence
According to initial reports, the victim is a woman in her twenties who was followed by a group of men after leaving the Labyrinth nightclub. The group allegedly carried out the हमला approximately 100 meters away, near Epsom Methodist Church, between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Police have yet to confirm the exact number of suspects involved.
The primary source of public outrage has been the decision by Surrey Police not to release suspect descriptions or CCTV footage. Authorities stated they “do not yet have sufficient information” to provide identifying details and urged the public not to speculate, warning that doing so could “increase tensions within the local community.”
This lack of transparency has been met with fierce backlash. Protesters gathered on Epsom High Street chanting demands for answers: “If you don’t tell us who they are, where they are, where they came from, why they did this, and what you’re doing to catch them—this is what happens.”
A local resident named Pete said many women and girls in Epsom now feel deeply unsafe.

Violence Erupts in the Streets
The protest—reportedly amplified by online activist Danny Tommo—quickly escalated. Dozens of demonstrators blocked major roads, bringing traffic in the town centre to a standstill. Riot police were deployed, forming defensive lines with shields along the High Street.
Tensions worsened as protesters began uprooting plant pots, throwing traffic cones, bottles, and other objects at officers. The clashes continued until around 8:00 p.m.
In response, Surrey Police issued a firm statement:
“We respect the right to peaceful protest, but criminal behavior and public disorder will not be tolerated. We will take robust action against anyone breaking the law.”
Political Response and Calls for Calm
Local Liberal Democrat MP Helen Maguire condemned the violence while acknowledging the community’s anger.
“I support peaceful protest and understand people are deeply upset… but damaging police vehicles, blocking roads, and threatening officers is completely unacceptable,” she said.
Maguire also criticized outside agitators, stating:
“Those coming from outside to stir division and disruption—take it elsewhere. It will not be tolerated here.”
She confirmed that the victim is receiving support from specialist officers and emphasized that evidence gathering requires time and space for police to conduct a thorough investigation.
Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey urged the public to allow police to carry out their work without interference.
A Crisis of Trust
The events in Epsom highlight a fragile and growing breakdown of trust between communities and law enforcement—particularly when serious crimes raise fears about public safety, yet are met with perceived delays or lack of transparency.
As tensions continue, the incident stands as a stark reminder of how quickly public anger can escalate when confidence in authorities begins to erode.
